Born in 1983 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Luke Diiorio is influenced by and works fluently in the language of minimalism. As Alex Bacon observed in “The Brooklyn Rail”, “While much has been made of the supposed resurgence of work coming out of the legacy of minimalism, Diiorio is one of few actively pushing forward the concerns of that particular genre.” For his exhibition “High Earth,” Diiorio created an immersive, site-specific installation in which he placed his new paintings, which are painted in sections of linen Diiorio has folded and sewed into successive bands of equal size. Diiorio’s most recent body of work deals not only with art historical concerns, but also with themes of landscape and the natural world.

Luke Diiorio received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, and his Master of Arts in Painting from the Royal College of Art in London, UK. His most recent exhibitions include Curved Paintings at Geukens & de Vil in Antwerp, Belgium (2019), High Earth at Denny Dimin Gallery (2019), and Presque Rien at Geukens & de Vil in Antwerp, Belgium (2019). He has previously had exhibitions at Sunday-S Gallery in Copenhagen, Pippy Houldsworth Gallery in London, Anat Ebgi in Los Angeles, and at the David Hockney Gallery in London. He has been reviewed or featured in multiple publications including The Brooklyn Rail, Artsy, Art in America, The International New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal.
